Violence Against Women
One of every three women worldwide is directly affected by violence.Approximately 1.9 million adult Texans (1,479,912 female and 372,394 male) or 13% of adult Texans have been sexually assaulted at some point in their lifetime.
Stopping violence against women is a key priority for the Governor's Commission for Women. Today, a spectrum of violence faces women of all ages, ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds. The Commission is working to help prevent, protect against, raise awareness and provide resources about violence against women, particularly here in Texas.
You can help, too.
- Get help if you're in a violent situation or you've had violence committed against you.
- Give help if someone you know is in a violent situation, has been sexually assaulted or has committed violence against women.
- Contribute your time, energy, goods/services or money to organizations that support survivors.
