What we do

The Governor's Commission for Women meets quarterly and is led by a panel of Commissioners appointed by the Governor to serve two-year terms.

The three main activities of the Commission are:

• promoting issues concerning Texas women - we're currently concentrating on the issues of violence against women; women's employment and economic development; and women's health, especially breast and cervical cancer, heart disease, healthy living and preventive healthcare;
• highlighting the accomplishments of notable Texas women, through our continuance of the Texas Women's Hall of Fame; and
• serving as an information resource for Texas women, through this website and through our responses to individual requests.
