    DALLAS – Gov. Rick Perry today applauded the United Negro College Fund’s (UNCF) ongoing commitment to higher education participation at the fund’s Annual Governor’s Luncheon.
     
  • Sep 05, 2008 - Gov. Perry Awards $3.9 Million to Drug and Violence Prevention Programs
    AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry awarded $3.9 million in grants to 72 programs dedicated to drug and violence prevention and development of student academic achievement. Funds are provided through the federal Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Fund and are distributed by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division (CJD).
     
  • Sep 01, 2008 - Gov. Perry, President Bush Visit State Operations Center And Alamo Regional Command
    AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry and President Bush today visited the State Operations Center in Austin for a briefing on Hurricane Gustav by the Governor’s Division of Emergency Management Chief Jack Colley and Texas Homeland Security Director Steve McCraw. The governor and president were later briefed by the San Antonio Office of Emergency Management, and visited with volunteers and medical personnel at the Alamo Regional Command in San Antonio.
     
  • Aug 31, 2008 - Update on State Efforts in Preparation for Hurricane Gustav
    AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has ordered additional state resources to support evacuation efforts from the southeast Texas coast and Louisiana prior to the landfall of Hurricane Gustav. According to the National Weather Service, Gustav is currently a Category 3 hurricane with winds at 120 mph and potentially strengthen before making landfall on the Gulf Coast.
     
  • Aug 30, 2008 - Update on State Efforts in Preparation for Hurricane Gustav
    AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has ordered the continued mobilization and pre-positioning of state resources in anticipation of Hurricane Gustav’s potential landfall. Gustav strengthened to a Category 4 hurricane today with winds at 145 mph. According to the National Weather Service, Texas remains among the Gulf States in the projected path, and additional strengthening of this system is forecast before making landfall along the Gulf coast.
     
  • Aug 29, 2008 - Gov. Perry Pre-Deploys Assets in Preparation for Hurricane Gustav
    AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today ordered the pre-deployment of state resources in anticipation of Hurricane Gustav’s potential landfall. Today’s action follows the governor’s disaster declaration for 61 counties issued on Thursday and readies the state to provide assistance to local officials.
