2008 is our
20th Anniversary! The National Cowboy Symposium & Celebration hosts 150-200 performers
and participants (poets, musicians, storytellers, panelists, cooks and special
presenter) for the 20th Annual event on September 4-7, 2008 at the Lubbock Memorial
Civic Center. Its' purpose remains to celebrate, preserve and pass along our western
heritage and cowboy culture for those who know and love it, and for those who
have never known it before to learn from and enjoy it as well. To carry out these
goals, the event schedule includes musical entertainers, poetry and storytelling,
western writers/authors panels, film and movie seminars, horse handling demonstrations,
a parade, a full blown Native American Indian Pow Wow, chuck wagon cook-off, and
exhibits of western artworks and merchandise. Our event features more than 80
cowboy and cowgirl poets, 70 or more musical acts, 30 or more storytellers, more
than 200 exhibit spaces filled with the best in western art and goods, more than
30 chuck wagons and other special presenters. This event also includes the American
Cowboy Cultural Awards Show and the National Championship Chuck Wagon Cook-Off.
New parts of the 20th Anniversary event will include: trick roping competition,
100 Years of Western Clothing display, Western Writers Association book signings
and Authors panels, and a western art exhibit.

The first
annual Bluegrass Heritage Festival will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 at
South Oaks Baptist Church, 5925 US Hwy 287 in Arlington, Texas 76017. Doors open
at 10a with first band at noon. Appearing will be Mark Phillips & Third Generation,
Hickory Hill, Blue River, GrassVille, Blue Moon Drive, Ellis County Bluegrass,
Salt Rock Rounders, and more. The Festival will be inside, air conditioned, with
comfortable seating. Come out to enjoy a day of great music, workshops, and jamming
under the oak trees. Festival admission will include banjo, mandolin, guitar,
and songwriting instructional workshops. Children under 12 admitted free with
parent or guardian. General admission tickets are $18 in advance (until 8/15/08)
and $20 at the door. Come out to have fun and support the Bluegrass Heritage Foundation.

Sessions presents a Jimmy Webb Weekend. First up is a Master Songwriting Class
from noon to 2:00 pm at O'Donnell Recital Hall, 6101 Bishop Blvd. on the SMU Campus
followed by a 7:30 concert at Dallas Baptist University's Mahler Center. Webb
is the only artist to ever receive Grammy awards for music, lyrics, and orchestration,
he is a member of the National Academy of Popular Music Songwriter's Hall of Fame,
the Nashville Songwriter's Hall of Fame, and, according to BMI, his "By The
Time I Get To Phoenix," has been the third most performed song in the last
fifty years, with "Up, Up and Away" on the same list in the top thirty.

Texas GATORFEST
is truly the most unique festival in the state, combining the alligator and family
fun for a good old Texas two-stepping good time! Witness the Great Texas Alligator

an encouraging atmosphere. It's a great time to check out our studios, the camaraderie
of our students, and the results of our teaching. It's always wonderful to hear
these individuals, from beginners to professionals, make music for others. Our
recitals are set up as concerts, with individuals and groups playing 1 to 4 minutes
pieces, 12 to 18 total performances - each recital lasting 60 to 80 minutes. Free
and open to the public. Promethean Studios, founded in 1991 by Mark Black, offers
beginner through professional level lessons, in all styles of music, on guitar,
voice, piano, keyboard, electric & upright bass, sax, flute, oboe, music composition,

For 93 years, the East Texas State Fair has provided East Texas

The Panhandle South Plains Fair serves a 22-county area
in West Texas and features agriculture and livestock shows, arts and crafts, commercial
vendors, homemaking exhibits and a variety of paid and free entertainment in the

country music stars or free variety shows. Attractions on the grounds include

Jazz By The Boulevard is a music and arts festival
set in the beautiful park-like setting of the Will Rogers Memorial Center and
great Kimbell lawn in Fort Worth's cultural district. The entertainment lineup
boasts a variety of jazz music including straight-ahead, Brazilian-world, fusion,
swing and traditional jazz with more than 25 different live performances on 2
stages. The Heritage Pavilion program within the festival seeks to educate and
expose the audience to the nature and history of the art of jazz. Activities include
Youth Workshops; Musical Storytelling; History of Jazz Exhibits; and Skills Clinics
led by local and national performers. More than 50 artists from the Metroplex
participate in the festival's celebration of the arts. Art enthusiasts can choose
from a variety of original works of art including jazz-inspired creations. There

Our Jazz'SAlive Festival is scheduled the third weekend
of September in San Antonio. "Travis Park" is free to the public with local and
international artists, the very best in jazz. We have plenty of Cajun, Mexican
and American food booths, a children's area, arts and crafts booth, two stages

The Medina Lake Cajun Festival
features top notch Cajun Bands from Louisiana. For your enjoyment, the festival
features two separate stage areas, the Fais-Do-Do & The Gazebo Stage. Entertainment
on the Fais-Do-Do Stage starts with the Band-Aids Jazz Band. This group opens
the festival with a spirited New Orleans Dixieland flavor. Big-name Louisiana
Cajun bands on this stage also include T Broussard & the Zydeco Steppens. Entertainment
on the Gazebo Stages will include Rodney Thibodeaux & Tout les Soir. The "Great
Gumbo Cookoff" pits amateur and professional chefs in a gumbo contest and visitors
can sample the gumbo. Authentically prepared Cajun food items include crawfish
pies, catfish, jambalaya, crawfish etoufee, red beans & rice, Cajun popcorn shrimp,
bread pudding with whiskey sauce, and pecan pralines. Activities also include
