Commercial Production in Texas
Texas is home to more than 50 Advertising Agencies, many of which are often named as top Ad Agencies world-wide in terms of clients, revenue, and size. There are also more Fortune 500 companies in Texas than in any other state. These factors have helped maintain the consistently high number of commercials being shot in Texas each year. In 2007, commercial productions, including corporate videos, industrials, music videos, and sports broadcasts, spent almost $100,000,000 dollars in Texas. In the past few years, all of the top TV Advertisers nation-wide, including Procter & Gamble, AT&T, Verizon Communications, and General Mills, have produced commercials in the Lone Star State.
Texas' long film production history has had much to do with the high quantity and quality of commercial production work that happens in the State. As Texas grew into a top filmmaking destination in the early to mid 20th century, local crew bases and production companies expanded with the increasing demand. In 1948, Texans built their first television broadcast station, WBAP in Fort Worth. This marked the beginning of local television production and advertisers' interest in the Texas commercial market, both of which took advantage of our indigenous film community.
Why Texas for Commercial Production
Financial Incentives
Like many other States, Texas offers incentives for film and television projects;
however, we are one of only a handful of states that offer the same incentives
to commercials and video games. Incentive payments are equal to 5% of in-state
spending, and are eligible for live-action or animated commercials. Producers
are also eligible to receive sales tax exemptions on many of the goods and services
used during production. You can visit the Texas Incentive Program page for more
information.
