Perry: Senate Passage of CSHB 2 Sends a Strong Message for Education Reform

AUSTIN – The following is a statement by Gov. Rick Perry regarding the education reform legislation, CSHB 2, which passed the Texas Senate today:

“I applaud the Texas Senate for sending a strong message that we must reform education by ensuring more education for our money, and not just more money for education. This education reform blueprint improves financial and academic accountability in our schools, rewards our best and brightest teachers and sends a zero tolerance message to chronically failing schools. I commend Lt. Governor Dewhurst and Chairman Shapiro for their leadership in ensuring greater educational excellence in Texas classrooms.”
