Gov. Perry Appoints Three to Lavaca-Navidad River Authority Board of Directors

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry appointed three people to the Lavaca-Navidad River Authority Board of Directors for terms to expire May 1, 2013. The board oversees the storing, preservation and distribution of stream and river water in Jackson County.

Jon Bradford of Edna is owner of Bradford Motor Cars of Edna, Inc. He is a director of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, past vice president of the Edna Lion’s Club and a member of the Rotary Club and Go Texan. Bradford replaces Basilio Jiminez of Edna.

Sherry Kay Frels of Edna is assistant to the general manager of Jackson Electric Cooperative, Inc. She is past president of the Edna Rotary Club and former recipient of the Jackson County Citizen of the Year Award. Frels is also alternate director of the Texas Settlement Region and member of the Texas Farm Bureau and Jackson County Historical Society. She is being reappointed to the board.

Olivia R. Jarratt of Edna is a teacher’s assistant for the English as a Second Language program at Edna High School. She is a past troop leader with both the Boy and Girl Scouts of America, and volunteers with the Edna Lion’s Club, Athletic Booster Club and Youth Football. Jarratt replaces John Shutt of Edna.
