Gov. Perry Appoints Foster to Texas Skill Standards Board

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry appointed Edward C. Foster, Jr. of Hurst to the Texas Skill Standards Board for a term to expire at the pleasure of the governor. The board facilitates and promotes the use of industry-developed skill standards for major skilled occupations, such as machinists, database administrators and air conditioning technicians.

Foster is director of career and technical education in the Mansfield Independent School District. He serves as president of Career and Technology Educators of North Texas and on the City of Hurst advisory board. He is a member of the Association for Career and Technical Educators, Career and Technology Association of Texas, North Central Texas Tech Prep Consortium and the executive board for InterLink, a Texas workforce planning organization. Foster serves as treasurer for Rotary International, is a Meals on Wheels volunteer, and was awarded the Administrator of the Year Award in 2006 by the Texas Industrial Vocational Association. He earned a doctorate in philosophy from the University of North Texas. Foster replaces Beth Graham of Longview.
