Gov. Perry Appoints Three To Upper Guadalupe River Authority

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has announced the appointment of three individuals to the Upper Guadalupe River Authority for terms expiring Feb. 1, 2011. The authority develops water policies, manages floods and protects the quality of water for the Guadalupe River.

Karol A. Schreiner of Hunt is the owner of K3 Ranch. She serves on the board of directors for the Kerr Economic Development Foundation, the Kerrville Convention and Visitors Bureau. Schreiner also serves on the Divide Independent School District Board of Trustees. She is president and chairman of the board of Hill Country Shooting Sports, and is a member of Hill Country Cattle Women, the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers’ Association, the Texas Longhorn Breeders’ Association and the Texas and Southwest Cattle Raisers’ Association. Schreiner attended San Antonio College and the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Mike Boyd McKenzie of Kerrville is a retired area manager for Ingersoll-Dresser Company. He is a former a member of the City of Kerrville’s Environmental Protection Committee, the American Institute of Metallurgical Engineers and International Maintenance Institute, Houston Chapter. McKenzie is also a former member of the Houston Scientific and Engineering Society, Houston Chapter. He is a member of the Arabian Shrine Temple of Houston. McKenzie received a bachelor’s of science degree in geology from Texas Western College (now University of Texas at El Paso).

Lana M. Edwards of Hunt is the owner and operator of a bed and breakfast. She is a teacher for the Christian Women’s Job Corps, serves on the lay advisory council for Ingram Independent School District and is active in various charitable organizations. Edwards attended Abilene Christian College (now Abilene Christian University) and the University of Houston.

These appointments are subject to senate approval in the 2007 Regular Session.
