Gov. Perry Appoints Choi to Texas Board on Aging

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today announced the appointment of Dr. Mi Yun “Maryann” Choi of Georgetown to the Texas Board on Aging for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2007. The board administers the Older Americans Act, which provides funds for senior centers, Meals on Wheels and other programs benefiting senior citizens.

Choi is director of geriatric clinical services at Scott & White Hospital in Temple. She also is an assistant professor at the Texas A&M College of Medicine and medical director at Weston Inn Nursing Home in Temple. Choi is a member of the American Geriatric Society, American College of Physicians and American Medical Directors. She received her medical degree from the Han Yang University College of Medicine in Korea, and she earned master’s degrees from the Texas A&M School of Rural Public Health and Hofstra University in New York.

This appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
