2008 is our 20th Anniversary! The National Cowboy Symposium & Celebration hosts 150-200 performers and participants (poets, musicians, storytellers, panelists, cooks and special presenter) for the 20th Annual event on September 4-7, 2008 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. Its' purpose remains to celebrate, preserve and pass along our western heritage and cowboy culture for those who know and love it, and for those who have never known it before to learn from and enjoy it as well. To carry out these goals, the event schedule includes musical entertainers, poetry and storytelling, western writers/authors panels, film and movie seminars, horse handling demonstrations, a parade, a full blown Native American Indian Pow Wow, chuck wagon cook-off, and exhibits of western artworks and merchandise. Our event features more than 80 cowboy and cowgirl poets, 70 or more musical acts, 30 or more storytellers, more than 200 exhibit spaces filled with the best in western art and goods, more than 30 chuck wagons and other special presenters. This event also includes the American Cowboy Cultural Awards Show and the National Championship Chuck Wagon Cook-Off. New parts of the 20th Anniversary event will include: trick roping competition, 100 Years of Western Clothing display, Western Writers Association book signings and Authors panels, and a western art exhibit.

Texas GATORFEST is truly the most unique festival in the state, combining the alligator and family fun for a good old Texas two-stepping good time! Witness the Great Texas Alligator Roundup, take an airboat ride or a river boat tour, enjoy three stages of entertainment, Texas Artisans, merchants and the scenic waterfront beer garden. Take a whirl on the adult carnival rides and treat the kids to the kiddie rides, pony rides and petting zoo. On Saturday and Sunday, witness the Great Texas Alligator Roundup and visit the Alligator Education Tent to get an up close and personal view of live gators, which outnumber Chambers County citizens by almost 3 to 1. Over 25 food and drink booths will be on hand, providing a menu to please every hungry festival guest.

"Waterfest at Willow Grove is all about water sports, free kid's activities, live music, exciting exhibitors and great food & drinks! It's a great time to check out our studios, the camaraderie of our students, and the results of our teaching. It's always wonderful to hear these individuals, from beginners to professionals, make music for others. Our recitals are set up as concerts, with individuals and groups playing 1 to 4 minutes pieces, 12 to 18 total performances - each recital lasting 60 to 80 minutes. Free and open to the public. Promethean Studios, founded in 1991 by Mark Black, offers beginner through professional level lessons, in all styles of music, on guitar, voice, piano, keyboard, electric & upright bass, sax, flute, oboe, music composition, song writing, music theory, praise and worship, and other areas. The Panhandle South Plains Fair serves a 22-county area in West Texas and features agriculture and livestock shows, arts and crafts, commercial vendors, homemaking exhibits and a variety of paid and free entertainment in the coliseum and on the outdoor stage. The coliseum showcases paid entertainment by country music stars or free variety shows. Attractions on the grounds include a fashion/clothing show, carnival rides and food concessions furnished by local non-profit groups.

Jazz By The Boulevard is a music and arts festival set in the beautiful park-like setting of the Will Rogers Memorial Center and great Kimbell lawn in Fort Worth's cultural district. The entertainment lineup boasts a variety of jazz music including straight-ahead, Brazilian-world, fusion, swing and traditional jazz with more than 25 different live performances on 2 stages. The Heritage Pavilion program within the festival seeks to educate and expose the audience to the nature and history of the art of jazz. Activities include Youth Workshops; Musical Storytelling; History of Jazz Exhibits; and Skills Clinics led by local and national performers. More than 50 artists from the Metroplex participate in the festival's celebration of the arts. Art enthusiasts can choose from a variety of original works of art including jazz-inspired creations. There is also children's musical activities, dancing and great food and drinks. Festival admission and entertainment is free.

Our Jazz'SAlive Festival is scheduled the third weekend of September in San Antonio. "Travis Park" is free to the public with local and international artists, the very best in jazz. We have plenty of Cajun, Mexican and American food booths, a children's area, arts and crafts booth, two stages and it's free to the public. Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 noon until 11:00pm on Saturday and 12:00 noon until 10:30 on Sunday.

The Medina Lake Cajun Festival features top notch Cajun Bands from Louisiana. For your enjoyment, the festival features two separate stage areas, the Fais-Do-Do & The Gazebo Stage. Entertainment on the Fais-Do-Do Stage starts with the Band-Aids Jazz Band. This group opens the festival with a spirited New Orleans Dixieland flavor. Big-name Louisiana Cajun bands on this stage also include T Broussard & the Zydeco Steppens. Entertainment on the Gazebo Stages will include Rodney Thibodeaux & Tout les Soir. The "Great Gumbo Cookoff" pits amateur and professional chefs in a gumbo contest and visitors can sample the gumbo. Authentically prepared Cajun food items include crawfish pies, catfish, jambalaya, crawfish etoufee, red beans & rice, Cajun popcorn shrimp, bread pudding with whiskey sauce, and pecan pralines.
