The TOA's is an event conceived through a mix of TJ's DJ's quarterly affair, the Tastemaker DJ/Music Conference with OZONE Magazine's Annual OZONE Awards - an effort to credit the Southern heartbeat pulsating through its pages. The TOA's will unite thousands of artists, DJs, labels, producers, media outlets, retailers, models, and other industry Tastemakers to learn, network, and receive recognition for their hard work.

The Navasota Blues Fest is held annually the second weekend in August, in memory of Mance Lipscomb, Navasota Songster. For two days local, regional and out-of-state blues musicians gather to celebrate the heritage of blues music and honor Mance Lipscomb. Proceeds benefit related activities and the Mance Lipscomb Scholarship Fund, which gives scholarships not only to a deserving high school graduate, but also continuing education scholarships to previous winners still pursuing an education. The event is held in an air-conditioned hall and tables are available for all patrons. Food is exceptionally good: barbeque brisket, chicken, ribs and sausage; fried shrimp and catfish, baked potatoes - plain or stuffed with BBQ brisket; roasted corn-on-the cob; beer, wine coolers, set-ups, sodas and bottled water and much more! BYOB - liquor and wine only. No coolers - no video cameras - no pets. Kid's area for kids 5 years and up. Plenty of parking space. Undercover parking for bikes.

The East Texas Sacred Harp Singing Convention is an a cappella shape note singing from a songbook entitled "The Sacred Harp." The East Texas Convention, founded in 1855, is the oldest singing convention in Texas and the second oldest continuous Sacred Harp singing convention in the United States. Singing begins at 9:30 on Saturday morning and singers sing until about 3 p.m. for each of two days, with appropriate breaks. Lunch is provided by the Convention. Singers from many U.S. states annually descend on Henderson, Texas for this special event.

The Cowboy Homecoming Celebration starts on Thursday with county team roping and carnival while Friday morning features the Cowboy breakfast and later a petting zoo and South Texas Dairy display in the afternoon. The queen's coronation takes place prior to the rodeo and the working cowboy of the year is announced as well as the induction into the Cowboy Hall of Fame Night volleyball tournament (4's and 6's) . Saturday's activities include a parade, chili cook-off, food booths, arts and crafts, darling contest, children's stick horse, 3x3 basketball tournament, 3x3 soccer tournament, music festival/battle of the bands karaoke talent contest, jalepeno eating contest, salsa contest, open car show and entertainment by NYA. In our cowboy gathering area we offer entertainment by South Texas Gunfighters, two chuck wagon displays with food prepared authentically, trick roper, storyteller, John Wayne impersonator, gun safety and tricks, and a longhorn steer that does tricks.

The 2008 national Tejano music convention & awards, the largest Latin music convention in the United States, serves as an industry and fan-based "meeting ground" bringing together national Tejano enthusiasts for the expressed purpose of music and dance appreciation. Event highlights include seminars and workshops for artists, management, and fans; a Tejano Experience Expo uniting artists with their fans; a music master-class series inviting all musicians to pick-up "tips of the trade" from renowned artists; nightly concerts/dances showcasing the industry's "best of the best" recording artists; and Tex-Mex Special Achievement Awards honoring lifetime & pioneering accomplishments, non-performing significant contribution and humanitarian efforts in the community. The vision of the Tejano Music Convention is to advance the Tex-Mex music genre by fostering the music industry to become more viable and strong, while increasing the understanding of the rich variety, artistic value, cultural, and historical significance of Tejano Music. Concerts Under the Stars showcases popular musicians in the beautiful surroundings of the San Antonio Botanical Garden. These concerts give the public the opportunity to see the Garden in the evening plus enjoy live music. Performances are scheduled for the third Thursday in June, July and August with a different live band performance each month. Bands offer a variety of music including jazz, rock, soul, folk and Latin. Concert-goers may bring lawn chairs and blankets, but no outside food and drink is allowed. Bottled water, soft drinks, wine and beer will be available for purchase. Gates open at 6pm; performances begin at 7pm with a $5 admission; no charge for Botanical Society members. The 32nd annual Salmon Lake Park Bluegrass Festival begins at 7 p.m. on Thursday and ends at 5 p.m. Sunday. Ten bands perform on an outdoor stage under beautiful shade trees during a 45-minute set. Bluegrass bands consists of banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and dobro. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy 25 hours of good bluegrass music. Kerrville Wine and Music Festival is a music festival which presents 35 songwriters and the products of a dozen Texas winemakers. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the concerts, wine tastings, and wine seminars at the outdoor theater at Quiet Valley Ranch, 9 miles south of Kerrville on Highway 16. Camping is available and is free with a three-day ticket. And there will be dozens of arts and crafts booths. 2007 performances included Guy Forsyth, Sonia and Disappear Fear, Ellis Paul, David Olney, The Belleville Outfit, Zoe Lewis, Jack Williams, Los Texmaniacs, David Jacobs-Strain, and Jay Boy Adams.

Westfest is a three-day Czechoslovakian festival featuring eight polka and waltz bands from around the state on two stages and dance areas. Westfest promotes Czech music, dancing, and food with more than 25 food booths, cultural area with ethnic dance groups, and 100 arts and crafts booths. The fest also features a large children's area, Kolache baking contest on Sunday, horseshoe pitching contest, taroky tournaments, and a 5,000 meter run. Free shuttle buses transport from downtown area to festival grounds. Past performers include Brave Combo, Hot Czechs, Czech Harvestors, and more. Friday night preview features top name country and western band.

Blues festival featuring live blues music, a triathlon, a motorcycle rally, biker games, parade, family-team cookoff, kids' area, Sunday service by CMA and more! Friday night we'll start off with a parade. Hopefully we’ll have some Art Cars in to help us start the party. We’ll keep you posted on acts as we book them, and we are talking to some great people. If the roar of a motorcycle is more your thing, we'll have a rally leaving Goe's in Angleton on Saturday (time to be announced). Once in Downtown Freeport, we'll have biker games and live music to kick things into gear. If you are too cool for school, you may want to join the fun at the Blues Brothers Look-Alike Contest. Where are you Jake and Elwood? This is a way-cool family event. The kids will have fun on the planned waterslide, the rock-climbing wall and the moonwalk. We had a great turnout of kids last year and we want to make sure folks feel good about bringing their children along -- so mind your manners while you’re having fun. By the way, you are welcome to bring a lawn chair, but no coolers, no vehicles with more than 2 wheels, and no weapons will be allowed in the area. Give our vendors -- which will include many terrific local restaurants -- a chance to serve you great Gulf Coast cuisine.

The Brady/McCulloch County Chamber of Commerce will hold its 34th-annual World Championship Goat Cookoff during over Friday and Saturday of Labor Day Weekend at Richards Park. The celebration features 150 cooking teams assembled from all over Texas and the United States, cooking goat each in their own way. Cooking teams have traveled from as far as England to participate. Over 100 arts and crafts booths, kids games, horseshoe and washer pitching, and other events round out the day at the park. With a live performance from a Texas Artist at our steet dance on Saturday night. Last year's performer was Reckless Kelly. The dance will be held at G. Rollie White Complex.

The 37th annual Hamilton County Dove Festival will feature festivities on the square. Activities include: quilt show, parade, arts and crafts, car and motorcycle show, gospel music, pet show, pageant, and 5K run. There will be live entertainment all-day on the square along with food vendors and craft booths.

The City of Lewisville will host the Annual Western Day festival in Old downtown Lewisville. Bring your family to this western-based event, designed to showcase Lewisville's rich history. Everyone will enjoy live music, arts and crafts vendors, gunfight re-enactments, trick ropers, petting zoo, car and motorcycle show, business expo, a restaurant tasting area, and three nights of the annual Labor Day Rodeo. Cross Canadian Ragweed and Smith Music Group teamed up to present the 2nd Annual Red Dirt Roundup in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards, September 2, 2007. The event brought 18,000+ exuberant fans to the North Forty Venue. Cross Canadian Ragweed invited artists with similar musical styles to the Red Dirt Roundup including The Black Crowes, Gary Allan, Son Volt, Stoney LaRue, Randy Rogers Band and others. This music festival is a one day event and will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2008 - Labor Day Weekend. The artist line-up for 2008 will be announced closer to the date of the event..
