The School of Music offers the Bachelor of Music degree, the Bachelor of
Music degree with teacher certification and the Bachelor of Arts degree. Music
degrees consist of 128-139 semester hours, which includes courses in general education,
music and electives. Music courses emphasize applied music, music theory, music
history, and literature and performance. We offer the Bachelor of Music degree
with majors in performance (voice, organ, instrumental and piano), church music,
piano pedagogy and accompanying, and music with teacher certification. A music
major is also available through the Bachelor of Arts degree. We also offer a music
minor which consists of 18 to 21 semester hours. The C. J. Davidson Music Complex,
opened in 1998, is a 21,000-square-foot facility that includes band and choral
rehearsal halls, music education classrooms, faculty offices, teaching studios,
computer lab and an organ studio. Our state-of-the-art music computer lab is located
in the Davidson Music Complex. Performance opportunities include the Marching
Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Winds of Triumph Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble,
A Cappella Choir, University Chorus, Chamber Singers, Heritage Singers, Handbell
Choir and small chamber ensembles. Instrumental contact is Dr. Robert Tucker at
915-649-8502 and Choral contact is Mr. Monte Garrett at 915-649-8503. Performance
facility on campus is Mims Auditorium.
