GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Office of the Governor (OOG) values the talent and diversity of its highly skilled workforce. OOG employees know that, first and foremost, Texas matters most. The Auditor III position is hired to work in the Criminal Justice Division (CJD) reporting to the Director of Grants Monitoring. Performs moderately complex onsite and desk reviews of grant awards. Examines, investigates, and reviews grantees' records, reports, financial statements and management practices to ensure legal compliance with state and federal statutes and regulations regarding granted funds. Performs all other duties as assigned.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Travels statewide as required to conduct onsite reviews of grant awards and desk reviews.
- Examines management, operations, internal controls, and accounting records to ensure standards are being met, and compliance with legal regulations.
- Identifies and timely reports questionable or erroneous transactions or recordings.
- May conduct or assist special investigations into questionable practices or records.
- Prepares independent analyses and sound recommendations regarding grant program economy, efficiency and overall effectiveness.
- Prepares complex program evaluations and reports, including concise summaries of findings, sound conclusions, recommended revisions, and well-organized work papers.
- Provides evaluation reviews to section supervisor in a timely manner.
- Conducts post-evaluation assessments.
- Communicates effectively with grantees. Demonstrates leadership and superior technical expertise in working with grantees.
- May train others.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
In order to be considered for this position, the successful applicant must meet the minimum education, knowledge, skills and requirements.
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with an undergraduate degree in accounting, auditing, business administration, or a related field plus (3) years experience in accounting, auditing, finance, investigations, business administration or public administration. Experience and education may be substituted for each other on a year-for-year basis.
