Budget, Planning and Policy
The Budget, Planning and Policy Division advises the Governor regarding state fiscal matters in support of his statutory role as Texas' Chief budget officer. The division also:
- Prepares the Governor's biennial budget recommendations to the Legislature.
- Monitors state appropriations and operations.
- Analyzes fiscal and economic issues.
- Performs other duties determined by the Governor.
The budget office assigns each agency an advisor who is available to provide assistance on budgetary and policy matters.

Fraud Prevention
On July 12, 2004, Governor Rick Perry issued a sweeping directive to all state agencies to establish wide-ranging efforts to detect and eliminate fraud in government programs.
