Texas Law

Provides that metropolitan mass transit authorities shall
establish programs that are designed to meet the needs of
individuals with disabilities.

Requires that cities must appoint one member to a transit board
that represents the interest of the "transportation
disadvantaged", a group that can include people with
disabilities.

Provides that the driver of a vehicle must use caution when
approaching an intersection or crosswalk where a pedestrian is
using an assistance animal or white cane for mobility.

Provides that individuals who use motorized wheelchairs or other
motorized mobility devices are considered to be
pedestrians.
- Provides that a pedestrian may use a public roadway instead of a sidewalk in instances where the sidewalk is inaccessible.
- Authorizes operation of an electric personal assistive mobility device on a sidewalk in a bike lane or on a road with a speed limit of 30 miles per hour or less where there is no sidewalk.
