The 81st Texas Legislature approves Funds to Restore Historic Texas Governor’s Mansion

I’m truly humbled by the outpouring of support I’ve seen since the fire last year and am thrilled that the citizens of Texas will continue to have a special place to call home.” To date, Texans have donated more than $3.4 million to the Texas Governor’s Mansion Restoration Fund to supplement public funds appropriated by the Legislature. The Texas Governor’s Mansion
This premier historic home of Texas has served as the official residence of Texas governors and their families since 1856. It is the fourth oldest governor’s residence continuously occupied in the United States and the oldest governor’s mansion west of the Mississippi River.

On June 8, 2008, arson devastated the Governor’s Mansion. Even though the Mansion was empty and all its prized contents in storage, significant structural and architectural damage occurred. It will cost millions of dollars to restore the national historic landmark. This house belongs to all Texans and you can make a difference! Please make a donation, large or small, to restore the Governor’s Mansion by contributing to the Texas Governor’s Mansion Restoration Fund.
